JEWELS ON THE CROWN

Documentary Feature | In Development

Searching for New York City's most affordable veggies, I stumbled upon a lesser known part of Chinatown tucked under the Manhattan Bridge, where a dollar has surprising buying power: it gets you a box of strawberries, a couple of pounds of Yu Choy, or a few bundles of green onions. Why is this produce so cheap, where is it grown, and is it even safe? A documentary that’s trying to answer these questions by following the supply chain, soon grows into a larger story about the uncertain future of one of the city's oldest ethnic neighborhoods.
